Sephora + MAC Haul - Review of comGateway shipping service!

November 12, 2014

A super exciting post today! I finally plucked up the courage to make a purchase to a shipping service company from some websites that don't ship to Australia (Sephora and MAC, I'm looking at you!).

I have an affiliate link for ComGateway and would seriously appreciate if you would join their service using my link: http://comgateway.com/heytherejacquelyn/

ANYYYYYWAYS, let's go onto the haul damage!

Sephora
From Sephora I honestly didn't pick up that much! The Lancome (Advanced Genifique and Hypnose Drama mascara) and Korres (Antiaging Primer) were samples and point perks with Sephora so I didn't technically pay for them - so thumbs up for that! Onto what I actually purchase from Sephora! I will try and include prices in Australia and US for applicable items.

OCC Matte Lip Tar - Black Dahlia: I have been dying over this baby for the longest time, but it was always sold out in Australia! I decided whilst browsing Sephora that I would finally get the beautiful deep, purple plum shade! I love OCC lip tars and have a full review here including lip swatches on my current collection!
Lipstick Republic $19
Sephora $18

Dior Creme De Rose Smoothing Plumping lip balm: I always hear so many people talking about this and how amazing it is... and for USD$27 for a lip balm it should be! I decided to just splurge a little and try it out because I've been wanting it for a loooong time!
No AUS purchase point?!
Sephora $27

Anastasia Beverly Hills - #12 brush: I have heard some fantastic reviews about this brush with the ABH Dipbrow Pomade and I love that product to begin with so if there is a chance I can get my brow game even more on point.... I'm going to get it.
No AUS purchase point?!
Sephora $18

Tarte Pin Up Girl blush palette: We can't readily get Tarte in Australia so I was keen to make a purchase from something Tarte and I thought I should definitely go with their brand new Christmas set with five blushers - considering my love for blush! Unfortnately this is already sold out on Sephora website but I did purchase it for $42!

NARS Audacious Lipstick - Anita: This is a gorgeous dusty pinky brown shade which looks amazzzzing. I wasn't expecting it too look like this, but it look amazing! The embossing on the actual lipstick bullet is going to make it very hard for me to want to use it.
Mecca $44
Sephora $32

Next up is my MAC purchases! Now the price difference between US MAC and Australian MAC is ridic. Like... this was all less than half the price I would spend in Australia, which is freaking crazy and outrageous!

Eyeshadow x15 insert: Duh, keep my eyeshadows together! P.S MAC... wtf is with this price difference?!?!
Australia $15
US $2

Pro Palette: Obvious as well... These ridiculous prices though...
Australia $30
US $8

Lip Pencil - Whirl: A dusty pink brown shade that is verrrry similar to the colour of the Anita lipstick by Nars! This is the pencil made famous by Kylie Jenner and I am soooo keen to give it a whirl (see what I did there?)
Australia $30
US $16

Mineralise Blush - Warm Soul: Finally! If you follow me on Insty you know I have been dying for this blush for months! It is a nice goldeny colour, similar to one of my favourite Nars blushers in Luster. So gorgeous, can't wait to use it!
Australia $41
US $27

Eyeshadow refills - Embark, Soft Brown, Cranberry, Satin Taupe, Woodwinked: All super popular colours. Swatches shown below! They all feel so soft and smooth and very pigmented!
Australia $26
US $10

So that is all I got! It may not look like much... but it still cost a pretty penny! Plus the extra shipping charges through comGateway!

In total my shipping came to approximately AUD $55 for regular, DHL shipping. However, scouring the internet means you can find some decent coupons, with the benefit of comGateway allowing you to use multiple coupons in the one transaction!
So overall, through the use of coupons I managed to get the shipping costs down about AUD $44 which I feel is decent - plus I managed to get Express shipping too for free through coupons! Bargain!

I feel a lot more confident now being able to purchase through comGateway, considering it was always a daunting experience but now, I think it is damn simple and easy!

Just some little tips:

  • For the first 0.5kg, it is almost $30 shipping alone, every 0.5kg after that is only approximately $4 - more splurge the cheaper technically!
  • They will consolidate multiple packages so that you can pay one shipping for like 10 packages if you desire
  • They can repack if the difference between the actual and volumetric weight is over 2kg difference
  • They have a fantastic rebates system which is super simple and can help you save more money on your shipping -  I use it because they offer rebates on a ton of websites!

Hope you guys enjoyed my quick little haul and ask me any questions about comGateway or my shipping experience down below! Would love you help you guys make some US purchases!

Again, click here to join up to ComGateway - you won't regret it!

    1. It's ridiculous, hey?! Other brands aren't as steep as MAC, so surely they could lower their prices!

arghh NARS Anita, I need you in my life ♥ might have to place my Mecca Cosmetica soon ^^ that lipstick is sooo gorgeous :) I have also purchased MAC Whirl lip pencil not long ago and I find it just a tad too dark, darker than what I always see Kylie wears, it may be the perfect shade for winter thou. Love the look of that Tarte blush also, such an amazeball haul you got there x
